Yves Henri Donat Mathieu-Saint-Laurent, known as Yves Saint Laurent, was an Algerian-born French fashion designer who was considered one of the greatest figures in French fashion in the 20th century.
Many of his collections were received rapturously by both his fans and the press, such as the Fall 1965 collection of Piet Mondrian shift dresses and the Spring 1967 collection that introduced Le Smoking tailored tuxedo suit. Yves Saint Laurent's death ended an extraordinary era in fashion but the Yves Saint Laurent the brand lives on splendidly, thanks to creative director Stefano Pilati, whose brilliant eye is unerringly tuned to the future.
