How to MAKE Cheryl Cole’s red bubble dress

Sewing Expert Dawn Wood says:
To turn the Dorothy Perkins red dress into an approximation of the Versace bubble dress you will need a large quantity of sequins and a few hours of patience.
The largest size of sequins available to buy, are 24mm in diameter, which is a lot smaller than those used on the original. You could go to the trouble of cutting out larger ones from acetate sheet, or use those available.
Sew on the first row so they hang slightly over the hem of the dress giving a scalloped effect, leaving a small gap between each one. The next row is slightly offset so the lower part of the sequin is over the gap created in the row below.
Continue until you have used the required number, adding in smaller sizes from time to time to create a random effect. The size of the sequins also grow smaller as you reach the waist and then wider again back up towards the top of the dress giving an illusion of narrowing.
As an alternative option you could cut the circles out of fabric and bead or sequin each one, before attaching to the dress in the method described above.
