With practically the entire country having a Saturday night in to watch the X Factor Final, Cheryl Cole had to raise the style stakes for the last weekend of what has become a personal fashion show and put in a lasting performance all of her own. So, being a massive night, Cheryl decided to dazzle the eagerly waiting crowd by taking us back to the home of Haute Couture… Paris! And instead of wearing a previous designer from the show, she opted for a stunning design by Zuhair Murad. The Lebanese born designer is a must for red carpet moments, dressing Hollywood stars for everything from Cannes to the Oscars, so it was only right Cheryl seek out one of his dresses for an equally important night!
Not one to shy away from an eye-catching number, Cheryl wore his strapless white floor length, mermaid style dress, which was adorned with delicate black teardrop Swarovski crystals cascading heavily from the bodice then lightly falling all the way down to the tips of the skirt. The exquisite gown from the Autumn/Winter 2009 Winter Rhapsody collection not only scintillated the Haute Couture shows but also drew upon the major catwalk trend of that season – structure – with the bodice opening up to create softly accentuated hips and a beautiful hourglass silhouette. Cheryl completed Zuhair Murad’s magical winter look with gorgeous yet subtle diamond encrusted jewellery by Swiss jewellers De Grisogono.
Cheryl may have struggled to walk in her dress, occasionally being caught shuffling across the stage, but Saturday night saw her style shine in a stunning dress that oozed a sensual, enchanting and glamorous look…. And with a dress like that, who needs to walk anyway!!
On a night full of emotion and anxiety, Cheryl Cole chose to bid farewell in dramatic style. Gone were the sequins, 80’s inspiration, ‘dust-bin’ lid creations and body-con mini’s, and in came a bit of Gothic Glamour! Not what we would expect from Cheryl, but this was the final and seeing as how Saturday night was marked with a stunning floor length gown, Sunday night’s outfit had to be just as extravagant.
Cheryl’s dress was a big, slightly cheeky, black strapless evening gown. Some of the beautiful detail was slightly lost as it looked quite dark on television, but the bodice was adorned with finely pleated ruffles around the bust and silk circles layered all over the body and scattered delicately over the huge skirt. The skirt had sheer panels throughout from mid-thigh to the hem revealing a hint of leg! The bodice lifted Cheryl’s cleavage and created a sexy yet elegant shape, which allowed the skirt to be perfectly big and over the top, allowing Cheryl not be taken over by the gown, but instead look like a gothic princess. With a dress that is such a statement, Cheryl didn’t need much jewellery, so she kept it simple with round diamante drop earrings.
This year Cheryl’s fashion choices have kept us all entertained, but also desperately jealous of her wardrobe!! Although some of the looks have been slightly experimental, they certainly haven’t disappointed. Proving Cheryl is firmly marking her place as a fashion icon, she has showed off a long list of all the latest trends (sometimes all at once!), played with Haute Couture and Catwalk designs, as well as being an ambassador for young British Designers. The evening gowns of the weekend were both elegant and stunning, if not slightly grown-up, but they capped off ten weeks of show stopping pieces, in scintillating style, proving that she was the winner of the show in more ways than one…….bring on next year!!!
