British Nail Professional of the Year 2009 Liza Smith says:
As this was Rock Week, it could have been expected that Cheryl would have rocked some black enamel on her nails. However, this look was obviously all about the dress!
The hair was severe, but simple, and the make-up was bold, so nude nails was the best choice.
It would’ve have looked too contrived to wear black on her nails.
The choice for nude is firstly; to match your skin tone, i.e. warm skins suit warm beige and cool skins suit a slightly pinker beige.
Then you have the choice of sheer or opaque.
The opaque look is definitely more on trend and has been for 2 yrs now, but the sheer look is for the less confident.
