Sunday night saw Cheryl Cole’s Style go up a notch with two very different outfits. Cheryl opened the show with what seems to be her fashion must at the moment – sequins!! They do seem to be everywhere so we’ll give Cheryl her dues. This time, it was a soft gold body-con dress, embroidered delicately with shimmering gold sequins and diamante’s, teamed with cute gold peeptoe bow Fendi heels, making for a dazzling entrance to the results show.
The sequins soon disappeared with Cheryl stepping into a raunchy combat number with plenty of attitude for her first solo performance of ‘Fight For This Love’, seemingly inspired by Michael Jackson and fully capitalizing on a number of trends, Cheryl completed a tough-chic look.
Drawing from the Military trend of a few seasons ago, Cheryl wore a large red military cap, a cropped peaked shoulder military jacket, with black spiked epaulettes worn over a must-buy sheer black body. Cheryl finished her ‘fighter’ look with spring- summer 2009’s big trend – the revival of the Harem Pant! Last season they came out of 80’s hibernation and reinvented themselves on the catwalk, where designers such as Alexander McQueen, Stella McCartney, and YSL embraced the full volume look.
Bad News – Harem pants should be worn with caution, a number of celebrities have tried and failed to pull off the look, still looking like a bit of an 80’s disaster … but the Good News was that last night Cheryl wore them spilt to the thigh with plenty of volume and tapered to the ankle, pulling off a sexier version of the look and combining them with black Alexander Wang mock croc ‘Lara Combat’ ankle boots to complete her fighting look!Hannah Marti-Wearing
