Love it or hate it, Cheryl Cole certainly made a stunning entrance for the first show in this Spring 2009 Atelier Versace dress.  It was big, it was short and it was very gold, but it had the wow factor Cheryl was clearly looking for on opening night. The couture dress was a statement piece, theatrical yet glamorous combining a heavy scale-like embroidered gold bodice emphasising a nipped waist that bled into a sheer ribbed, gold silk structured tulip skirt. Cheryl opted to finish her ‘gold fairy’ look with specially made Rupert Sanderson glitter leopard print shoes – not quite in keeping with her couture dress, but all together it made for quite a debut.

For the results show Cheryl kept up with her glossy start, choosing a dress from S/S ’10 Qasimi collection, showing she’s clearly keeping up with the fashion crowd as well as being a judge!  Inspired by gold and Byzantine architecture, the dress was another structured number – simple but glitzy. It was a strapless mini dress with a white back but a front heavily embellished with an array of luxurious gold studs creating an armour-like effect. This week’s trend was definitely gold and structured… roll on next week!
