Saturday – No Dress…Just a Jumpsuit!
There was no stunning frock or eye-catching gown for Cheryl Cole this week; instead it was all about the jumpsuit. Cheryl had a fiery new look, but her outfit was more reserved as she wore a strapless black bow accented jumpsuit from the Autumn/Winter 2010 collection by Azzaro.
Famed in the 1970’s the French designer Loris Azzaro, was well known for making must-have glamorous party dresses for the elite of French society and celebrities, often featuring ornate beading and daring cuts, now his protégé Vanessa Seward is bringing the label back to the forefront by keeping to Azzaro’s glamorous signature, and it seems Cheryl has jumped straight onto the rival wearing the label’s modern day glamour on the most glamorous of stages!
The jumpsuit was sophisticated and in keeping with the Azzaro collection. It had a slight vintage feel to it with a dramatic double-layered satin bow, sitting on a pleated bust. The draped effect at the front was delicate and added an extra dimension to an outfit that could feel lost in a lot of the material, whilst the harem style trousers kept the look current, wearable and stylish. Cheryl teamed her toned down outfit with a gorgeous pair of embellished black and cream peep toe Miu Miu heels that added length to a harem shape jumpsuit, which can be difficult to wear if like Cheryl height is not on your side, but also really importantly, the cute Miu Miu’s bought a small amount of life and excitement to the dark all-in-one.
It wasn’t the most exciting outfit Cheryl could have worn, however jumpsuits have been a big trend since last season having been seen all over the high street and catwalk – and this Azzaro jumpsuit is certainly a stunning piece to own – the look embraced this trend as well as kept a feeling of understated glamour, but it didn’t seem to have the wow factor we’re used to seeing on Cheryl.
Sunday – Lady in Black
We’re only two weeks in but so far Cheryl Cole’s colour palette hasn’t stretched very far, every girl feels safe in a black outfit and it appears Cheryl is no different! – Noir seems to be the new black!
However, Cheryl was back to her fun and flirty side in a satin mini dress from the Autumn/Winter 2010 Versus collection designed by Christopher Kane. With the cute peephole neckline, shape defining bustier, and full pleated ‘cupcake’ mini skirt, the fact that it was yet another black number could almost be forgotten. The dress had more personality than Saturday night’s jumpsuit and allowed Cheryl to look playful yet sexy.
To complete the outfit Cheryl re-used last weeks black bow Valentino ankle sandals. Although they looked cute the ankle cut didn’t do much to enhance the look, instead looking a bit heavy, it would have been been nice to see a more delicate heel, that didn’t cut her legs at the ankles, for a longer leaner shape.
Overall, Cheryl’s look had a good feel to it, but hopefully next week we’ll see a bit of colour.
