Cheryl’s One-Shouldered Black and Gold Dress by Stephane Rolland on X Factor Live Show 8
Cheryl’s one-shoulder gold and black dress on X Factor Live Show 8 (28/11/09) certainly provoked more than a few festive-themed comments.
One commentator even went so far as to suggest the dress had been designed by Ferrero Rocher – but alas! no this was not the case.
The dress was actually designed by Stephane Rolland; a name some might be not overly familiar with.
Stéphane Rolland is a well-known name among the very exclusive clientele of haute couture having helmed Jean-Louis Scherrer Haute couture for 10 years.
Spending his formative years in the South of France, Argentina and the West Indies, at the age of 20, his talent was recognized by Balenciaga, who hired him to work on the menswear collections. Rolland left Balenciaga when he was 24 to design his own prêt-a-porter collection which was an immediate success.
In a curious twist of X Factor fate, given that Rihanna is one of the stars on Sunday’s Live Results Show 8, Rihanna was spotted wearing a Stéphane Rolland white. flowing gown at the Glamour Magazine 2009 Women of the Year Awards only a couple of weeks ago.
It’s a hard dress to find High St lookalikes versions of…but we have managed to source some dresses which channel the metallic theme but also one which hooks into the one-shouldered chiffon sleeve idea. View here.
