X Factor 2010 – Live Show and Live Results Show 1 (09/10/10 and 10/10/10)
Fashion Stylist Hannah Marti-Wearing says:
Show 1: Cheryl Wears Daniel Vosovic
Kicking off where the last series ended, Cheryl Cole embraced new, young talent with a stunning gown from designer Daniel Vosovic.
If you’re not an avid viewer of Project Runway, his name might not be too familiar, however the 29-year-old designer has slowly been making a name for himself. He was a finalist in season two of the show and then went on to win the Project Runway All-Star Challenge last year.
Cheryl played the first show quite safe, but with plenty of style, wearing an off the shoulder black lace dress from Vosovic’s 2011 Spring/Summer collection. A collection that was inspired by Elizabeth Taylor in ‘Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf?’ and embraced survival and heroines, whilst still managing to look devastatingly chic – maybe Cheryl’s trying to tell us something?!
But, whatever the message the dress was a stunning yet not-too-showy first choice, as sheaths twisted and draped around the torso and hips with a delicate cutaway, revealing a beautiful embroidered lace bodice that followed the neckline of the dress and poked through over the shoulder.
Cheryl completed the outfit with cute bow-embellished strappy black stiletto sandals from Valentino and amazing must-have jewellery by De Grisogono. The dress, shoes, and jewellery worked a treat for the under pressure judge on the first show.
Show 2: Lady in Lace
Lace is definitely on Cheryl’s style agenda as she stepped out for Sunday night’s results show in a slinky little number that wrapped her delicately. The dress, by someone who is quickly becoming one of her favourite designers Zuhair Murad, is from the Autumn/Winter 2010 collection and encompasses the trends and tones of that season beautifully. The Beirut-based Lebanese designer, as you’ll remember, has been on Cheryl’s radar since the last series, where she wore one of his gowns on last years stunning final, and she recently wore his designs for her ‘Promise This’ video.
The grey mini dress was cute, delicate and hugged Cheryl’s figure in all the right places leaving a gorgeous silhouette. The dress was a corseted top and mini skirt with a fine floral lace overlay that gathered at the hip and draped over the hem of the skirt, cut with a high neckline and long fine sleeves, it was a covered up look that was intricately revealing at the same time. Grey, isn’t the most exciting colour, so luckily Cheryl drew inspiration from this season and popped in flash of purple in the form suede pointed Louboutin’s, which saved the look from turning too demure.
First weekend of the series… so far so good. Roll on next week…
