Versus by Christopher Kane, the diffusion line for Versace, was the designer du jour for Cheryl’s Sunday black outfit. ‘Our’ Cheryl effortlessly (but not literally) pulled off another short black frock for the high adrenaline results show.
Another move away from the more classic red carpet style gowns, Versus is a savvy label choice for her as it’s in keeping with a hipper, younger vibe and accentuates all those qualities of her own. The punchy little dress is a clever construction of peephole bustier atop a short, pleated, skater style skirt made from sexy satin and velvet which was also shown in red on the runway. Again, Cheryl chose black, and despite that black will always be rock n roll & that I love the modernity of her latest outfits, I find I’m waiting in anticipation for some deviation from noir et noir.
Overall, I liked the quirkiness of her look which complimented her cheeky youthfulness, although an open shoe instead of the strappy Valentino’s would have elongated her body and balanced the graphic neckline.
Nevertheless the sum of the parts came together and she looked great with the cut-out of the dress adding interest when she was seated.
